Strangers in the Forest
One May morning in 1978, a 71-yr-old farmer encountered a truly unique UFO and its crew in woodland near the village of Emilcin, Poland.
Jan Wolski was driving his horse and cart along a forest track when he noticed two short figures walking up ahead. Bizarrely, they were bounding up and down "like divers on the seabed". As he drew alongside them, they jumped on to his cart and motioned to him to drive on.
The beings were 5 feet tall and looked almost (but not quite) human. They wore black hooded jumpsuits that left only their faces and hands exposed. They had greenish-brown skin, webbed hands, and larger than average eyes. They spoke to each other in a rapid incomprehensible language.
As Wolski drove into a clearing he heard a loud humming sound "like bumble-bees in flight". Then he saw a peculiar UFO hovering overhead. It was rectangular in shape and the size of "a small bus". At each corner was a large rapidly spinning corkscrew attached to a bracket.
A platform descended from the craft and the beings stepped on to it. They gestured to Wolski to join them. Thinking that they seemed friendly enough, the old man complied.
Inside the craft
Two more beings were waiting inside the craft. The interior was devoid of furnishings or equipment apart from some seats fastened to the walls. The only source of light was the daylight that filtered in through the open entrance. Bizarrely, a dozen crows were sitting quite motionless on the floor.
The entities motioned to Wolski to remove his clothes. One of them passed a pair of vibrating discs over his body while the others examined his garments. While they were doing so, he noticed an acrid odour like burning sulphur.
The beings allowed Wolski to put his clothes back on, then escorted him back to the entrance. He bowed and said goodbye, and they smilingly returned the bow. Then he descended to the ground on the platform and climbed back on to his cart.
The horse immediately galloped away in a panic, so Wolski did not see the craft depart. However, a child in the village later reported seeing a "little house" that sailed overhead and shot upwards with a sound like thunder.
A psychologist who examined Wolski declared him to be an honest man of sound mind. Wolski told investigators that he thought the entities had been foreigners (probably oriental) wearing heavy make-up or masks. As unlikely as it seems, perhaps we should at least consider this theory before reaching for more exotic explanations.
