A Stranger in the Yard
Nearly 50 years after Henry Thomas encountered a trio of heavily suited figures in a back garden in Bolton, a householder in Vilvorde, Brussels saw a similar entity prowling through his own back yard.
'Mr V' awoke at 2am one December morning in 1973 and was obliged to get up to relieve himself. As he walked through the kitchen on his way to the outhouse, he saw a green glow shining in through the curtains. He also heard a strange noise that sounded like someone striking the ground outside with a metal object.
He parted the curtains and saw a 3-ft-tall humanoid standing in the courtyard. It was sweeping the ground with a device shaped like a metal detector.
The entity wore a luminous green jumpsuit and a transparent globular helmet connected by a tube to a backpack. On its stomach was a sparkling red box.
Giving the Sign
Mr V shone his torch through the window at the humanoid. It jerkily swung its whole body round to face him, as if unable to simply turn its head. The only facial features he could discern were a pair of pointed ears and two glowing yellow eyes.
The entity raised two fingers in a V-sign, then turned and headed towards the back wall. It walked straight up and over the wall like a fly, always remaining perpendicular to the surface.
Moments later, a disc ringed with flashing lights ascended slowly from behind the wall, making a muffled sound. The entity could be seen sitting in a transparent cupola. The little humanoid waved cheerily at Mr V, then the disc rocked back and forth for a few seconds and shot skywards.
