Sphere and Loathing in Argentina

Kidnapped

In the early hours of Jan 4th, 1975, a 28-year-old waiter from Bahia Blanca was allegedly kidnapped by a trio of bizarre entities as he walked home from work.

Carlos Diaz was barely a hundred yards from his front door when a powerful beam of light shone down from the sky and paralysed him. He heard a buzzing sound and began to float slowly upwards. At a height of 8 feet, he lost consciousness.

He regained his senses to find himself trapped inside a plastic sphere, 10 feet in diameter. It was perforated with dozens of tiny air holes (like a hamster's ball) and had semi-transparent luminous walls.

Although he could not see outside, Diaz sensed that the sphere was moving rapidly through the air.

The Demon Barbers

Fifteen minutes later, three green-skinned humanoids wearing cream-coloured rubber jumpsuits glided into the craft. They were 5 feet tall and had long flexible arms with suckers in place of hands. They had no facial features at all, and their tiny heads were completely bald.

One of the entities restrained Diaz, while the others tore out clumps of his hair with their suckers. They seemed to be enjoying themselves hugely, for they kept jumping up and down waving their arms as if celebrating. Luckily, the Argentinean felt no pain while all this was going on. He struggled in vain to escape before passing out again.

He regained consciousness to find himself lying on a grass verge near a busy road. He had no idea where he was or how long he had been there.

A passing motorist took pity on him and drove him to the nearest hospital. He discovered that he was now in Retiro, Buenos Aires; over 400 miles from his home.

"I don't know if you will believe me," he told investigators. "If someone were to tell me, I surely wouldn't!"
